The documentary Midsummer Night's Tango directed by Viviane Blumenscheid tells the stroy about three Argentinian musicians travelling to Finland to find out whether Aki Kaurismäki is telling the truth when he asserts that tango music was invented in Finland. Carn to Cove is Cornwall's performing arts scheme for rural communities. The idea is to fill local locations – as a centre of social life – with music, films, poetry, laughter, drama, stories and dancing. As a part of this scheme, two world music films have been screened at Redruth, Cornwall, UK. Columbian Gold, a musical odyssey through Colombia’s Caribbean Coast, examining the region’s rich musical heritage, on 18 July, and Calypso Rose – The Lioness Of The Jungle, a documentary on Calypso Rose, a living legend, a charismatic character, the uncontested diva of Calypso music, on 19 July.
